Ampere Doubles Network to 600+ Experience Centers in a Year in 2026

Ampere Doubles Network to 600+ Experience Centers in a Year in 2026

From 300 to 600+: Ampere Builds One of India's Largest EV Retail and Service Networks

India's electric two-wheeler market is no longer just "a story about the future." It is becoming an everyday necessity. Against this backdrop, Ampere, the EV brand of Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), a subsidiary of Greaves Cotton, announced its aggressive expansion plans on 09 October 2026.

According to the company, Ampere added 50+ new Experience Centers during Navratri. From around 300 centers a year ago, its network has grown to 600+ today, meaning the footprint has doubled in just a little over a year. The number shows that Ampere is betting not only on selling products but on the entire ownership experience.

The Festive Boost and Pan-India Footprint

Navratri is considered one of the most auspicious periods for vehicle purchases in India. Opening 50+ new centers across 15 states during this window is therefore well-timed. When a customer is already inclined to visit a showroom, having a test ride, purchase and service available nearby improves the chances of conversion.

The new centers span four regions:

  • North: Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan
  • East: West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand
  • West: Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat
  • South: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala

This spread shows that Ampere is building balanced reach rather than depending on a single region. From metro cities to emerging markets, the strategy centers on making the brand visible "in the customer's own city."

Market Analysis: EV Penetration Nears 11%

Citing VAHAN, September 2026 data, the press release says electric two-wheeler penetration in India is approaching 11%. In other words, roughly 11 out of every 100 two-wheelers are now electric.

There are clear reasons behind this:

  • Better product choice: more options for different needs
  • Maturing technology: growing confidence in batteries and connected features
  • Stronger value proposition: electric scooters are now both aspirational and practical

But the faster adoption grows, the more important physical access becomes. Customers want to see and touch a vehicle, and they want assurance that service will be available when needed. This is where Ampere's network expansion connects directly to demand.

Leadership Insight: The 'Built for Bharat' Philosophy

Mr. Vikas Singh, Managing Director of GEML, said:

"Building a nationwide network of Experience Centers is a critical pillar of Ampere's aggressive growth journey. We are moving with speed, and we have doubled our footprint in just over a year… Under our 'Built for Bharat' approach, we are creating not merely a larger distribution network, but a strong and trusted ownership ecosystem."

The essence of this statement is that Ampere does not see its network merely as a sales channel. 'Built for Bharat' means products designed for India's roads, climate and daily needs, backed by a sales-and-service ecosystem. For an EV buyer, the biggest question is often: "What if I face a problem later?" An ownership ecosystem is an attempt to answer exactly that concern.

Product Portfolio and Next-Gen Tech

With the larger network, more customers will get direct access to Ampere's full portfolio:

  • Ampere Nexus EX+: powered by a new 5 kW motor
  • Magnus GMax: everyday practicality combined with connected technology
  • Magnus Neo: built for comfortable city riding
  • Ampere Reo Vyb: recently launched, aimed at younger riders

Nexus EX+ and Magnus GMax are also available with "Intellipack", which offers 30+ intelligent convenience features.

The entire portfolio is built on next-generation LFP battery technology. According to the company, it comes with a 5-year/75,000 km standard battery warranty and a battery life of up to 2,00,000 km. A long warranty and battery life directly address the biggest worry of EV buyers: battery durability.

Real-World Capability and Records

Beyond specifications on paper, the company has cited real-world performance examples:

  • The Nexus platform conquered the 70 hairpin bends of Kolli Hills and reached Shipki La Pass (13,200 ft)
  • The Magnus GMax IoT completed a nearly 4,000 km east-to-west endurance ride across India

GEML also holds 8 India Book of Records and 1 Asia Book of Records titles, which the company says reflect its focus on technology and design-led, durable mobility solutions.

Conclusion: The Road Ahead

With a legacy of 165+ years in engineering, Greaves Cotton stands in the EV segment through GEML with 17+ years of experience. Alongside it, Greaves Finance Limited (ev.fin), a 100% EV-focused NBFC, eases adoption by offering customised financing and a seamless buying experience.

The network of 600+ Experience Centers gives Ampere a strong retail and service foundation. As EV penetration climbs, this reach and trust will help decide who leads the next phase of the market. Ampere has, at the very least, made its readiness clear.
