Jaipur: Shares of Poonawalla Fincorp (PFL) could have further upside, according to a recent brokerage assessment that retained a Buy rating on the non-banking financial company (NBFC) and set a target price of ₹570.
With the stock’s current market price (CMP) at ₹486.35, the brokerage target implies a potential upside of around 17.2%.
From Transformation Story to Earnings Compounder
According to the brokerage, Poonawalla Fincorp’s transformation into a diversified retail lender has moved beyond the investment phase. The company’s newer businesses have achieved meaningful scale and are increasingly emerging as additional growth drivers.
The brokerage highlighted PFL’s expanding distribution network, improving digital capabilities and disciplined execution as key factors supporting the company’s growth outlook.
As the lending portfolio becomes more diversified across products, customer segments and collateral types, the brokerage expects PFL’s growth to become more resilient while the quality of earnings improves.
Profitability Outlook Strengthens
Poonawalla Fincorp’s profitability outlook is also expected to improve as higher-yielding businesses scale up and portfolio yields strengthen.
At the same time, operating leverage could increasingly offset the elevated investment spending undertaken by the company over the past two years.
The brokerage believes these factors could mark a transition for PFL from a “transformation story” to an “earnings compounding story.”
AUM, PAT Growth Estimates
The brokerage has projected strong growth for Poonawalla Fincorp over FY26-FY28E.
It estimates approximately 43% CAGR in Assets Under Management (AUM) and around 117% CAGR in Profit After Tax (PAT) during the period.
The brokerage also expects PFL's return ratios to improve, with Return on Assets (RoA) reaching around 2.4% and Return on Equity (RoE) around 17% by FY28E.
If achieved, such improvement could significantly strengthen the company's earnings profile.
AI-Led Productivity Could Support Growth
Another potential growth driver highlighted by the brokerage is the use of artificial intelligence and technology-led productivity improvements.
AI-driven efficiencies across areas such as customer acquisition, underwriting, servicing and internal operations could help PFL improve productivity as its business scales.
The brokerage expects the combination of multiple growth engines, improving operating efficiency, AI-led productivity gains and strengthening asset quality to support superior earnings growth over the coming years.
Valuation Seen as Attractive
On valuation, the brokerage noted that Poonawalla Fincorp is trading at around 2.5 times estimated FY28 Price-to-Book Value, which it considers attractive relative to the company's medium-term earnings potential.
The ₹570 target price has been derived using a 3.0x multiple on estimated March 2028 Book Value Per Share (BVPS).
Based on this valuation framework, the brokerage has reiterated its Buy recommendation.

Aurelius Business View
Poonawalla Fincorp's investment case is increasingly shifting from business transformation toward earnings growth. The scaling of newer retail lending segments, portfolio diversification and operating leverage could provide multiple avenues for growth.
However, investors should continue to monitor asset quality, credit costs, borrowing costs, portfolio yields and execution risks, which remain important factors for NBFCs.
At ₹486.35, the ₹570 brokerage target indicates approximately 17% potential upside, but the actual performance of the stock will ultimately depend on PFL's ability to deliver the projected growth and profitability improvements.
