Elecon Stock Explodes 9% Post Q2 Results & Dividend Reward

Elecon Engineering Q2 Results: Profit Rises 9.8% to ₹96 Crore, Stock Jumps 9% After Beating Estimates

Elecon Engineering Company, a maker of industrial gears and material handling equipment, announced its results for the second quarter (Q2 FY27) and first half (H1 FY27) of 2026-27 on October 14, 2026. On a consolidated basis, both revenue and profit grew, and EBITDA margin improved. The board also declared an interim dividend of ₹0.50 per share. After the results, the stock surged about 9% in afternoon trade.

Quarterly Numbers at a Glance

Elecon's consolidated revenue in Q2 FY27 rose 10.5% year-on-year to ₹639 crore, up from about ₹578 crore in the same quarter last year.

The operating picture looked even better. EBITDA grew 17.7% to ₹148 crore, while EBITDA margin expanded by 140 basis points to 23.1%. In other words, EBITDA grew faster than revenue, pointing to better cost control and product mix.

At the bottom line, consolidated net profit (PAT) rose 9.8% to ₹96.35 crore, compared with ₹87.72 crore a year earlier.

Parameter Q2 FY27 Change (YoY)
Revenue ₹639 crore +10.5%
EBITDA ₹148 crore +17.7%
EBITDA margin 23.1% +140 bps
Net profit (PAT) ₹96.35 crore +9.8%

How the Numbers Compare With Estimates

A pre-results preview had projected Q2 revenue of about ₹604 crore, EBITDA of ₹128 crore and PAT of ₹84 crore, with EBITDA margin expected near 21.2%. The company's actual numbers came in better on every count. The margin, in particular, beat the estimate by roughly 190 basis points, which the market is likely to view as a positive surprise.

₹0.50 Interim Dividend

The board has declared an interim dividend of ₹0.50 per share (50% on a face value of ₹1) for FY2026-27. The record date is October 21, 2026, meaning only shareholders whose names are on the company's register by that date will be eligible. Payment will be made on or after November 4, 2026.

The company paid an interim dividend of the same size last year as well. At the current share price, however, the payout works out to only about 0.1% of the price, so investors are likely to focus more on growth than on the dividend.

Credit Rating Outlook Upgraded, Order Book Strong

There was another piece of good news on the credit front. The outlook on the company's long-term credit rating has been raised from [ICRA] AA (Stable) to [ICRA] AA (Positive). A positive outlook usually signals that a rating upgrade could follow, and it reflects confidence in the company's financial health.

Elecon also has an open order book of ₹1,635 crore, which gives it a solid base for revenue in the coming quarters.

Stock Performance

After the results, Elecon Engineering shares were trading at ₹481.20 around 1:40 pm on October 14, about 9.36% above the previous close of ₹440. The stock touched an intraday high of ₹483.50 and a low of ₹434.65, so it dipped in the morning before staging a sharp recovery.

Over 52 weeks, the stock has a high of ₹579 and a low of ₹352. At the current level, it is about 17% below its 52-week high and roughly 37% above its low. The company's market capitalisation is around ₹10,798 crore, and its P/E ratio is about 45.7.

According to reports, the stock had been under pressure in recent months amid news of foreign institutional investors (FIIs) trimming their stakes in the September quarter. Today's results have reversed that mood, at least for now.

What It Means for Investors

The results are strong at the operating level. Better margins, higher PAT, an improved rating outlook and a large order book all work in the company's favour. However, a P/E of around 45 suggests the market has already priced in good growth. After a 9% single-day jump, it would be prudent for fresh buyers to look closely at valuations and the sustainability of margins, especially with the risk of rising input costs.

What to Watch Next

In the coming quarters, the key questions are whether Elecon can hold its EBITDA margin near 23% and how quickly the ₹1,635 crore order book converts into revenue. For the dividend, the record date is October 21.
